From the recordings Life, Love, and Philosophy and I Don't Owe You
Live as you want, Love who you want, be unique, worship as you see fit, and above all be individuals, but that doesn’t mean you get to tell other people how to think or act, or that they owe you something. This is distinctly un-American. We have adopted a form of thinking that is crushing the right of the Individual and returning us all to the enslavement and the will of the collective. Something that has plagued mankind since we first crawled out of trees to form communities.
Ayn Rand had some strong opinions about sexuality, and some may view her as unaccepting, but nowhere in Objectivism is there a statement that the government should force people to be anything other than what they want to be. Yet our government seems to think they can force people to accept each other using various forms of coercion. The United States was called “the melting pot” for a reason, and while it may take longer for different groups of people to be accepted, the reality is that true Capitalism is the best way to achieve acceptance, not by forcing people into a caste system that judges them based on irrelevant choices or physical characteristics.
