You hear a lot of people talk about the evils of Capitalism. The reality is that this country hasn’t been close to true Capitalism (Laisse Faire) for close to 150 years. The first changes occurred just after the Civil War with Anti-Trust legislation, and the decline of States Rights. Ayn Rand talked a lot about creating a separation of economic and political power, just like the separation of church and state. That’s really what this song is about. We’re not Capitalist anymore, and there is a real danger in the fusion of Political and Economic power. Again, I would reference Ayn Rand’s non-fiction works like “Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal”.
