From the recordings Life, Love, and Philosophy and Comfortable
I wrote this song in 2000. At the time, I was living through the millennium, my 40th birthday, and the breakup of a 9-year relationship. On the surface, the relationship seemed good, but I had been in denial for much of the time, since the warning signs were more than obvious. It’s an unrealistic view of what was happening, written at a time when I was still working through things, but it may be relevant for other people who don’t realize you have to work at a relationship, and not become too complacent.
